Date night... Or day, is IMORTANT!

Remember to take time out of your day for yourself and just enjoy what is!
Find something you love and do more of it!

I have some pretty awesome kids,
but every so often my sanity and marriage needs to take an adult break from them. That is easier said than done/remembered.
My husband and I had made plans with some friends for nice group dinner out... NO KIDS! We actually had a sitter lined up! But due to different events each other couple had the bow out. I felt devastated. I really wanted an adult evening out. Can you believe my husband and I almost missed out on some quality alone time for the two of us!? We changed our mind-set, as well as, our plans!

The original plan for the day was to drop the kids off at my father-in-law's for a quick, short visit and then hustle over to my sister's so she could watch them for our group night out! (Boy, seeing that written out kind of makes it seem more rushed then I thought). As I stated earlier, that plan fell through. I called my sister and cancelled, this allowed my father-in-law and his sister, Aunt L to spend more time with the kiddos (and might I add all four had a blast)! This also meant D and I could just hangout an not be rushed back. We had a GREAT afternoon! It was a much needed re-set! We spent to afternoon with just the two of us... well, the three of us.

We took our dog Thor to a local dog park (sadly there was no up-keep and it was severely over grown) and took him and ourselves for a nice walk through the woods! We just took in all the fresh air we could, we let ourselves just enjoy the moment!
We even made it a real date and had a late lunch together! We had some awesome BBQ from a local pit, Goody Cole's! Even Thor got a little treat of smoked turkey (thank you Uncle Danny)!
Now, D, Thor and I had already had a great afternoon... but it had been just over two hours; we didn't want to cut short the kids' visit with Gramp and Aunt L, but what can you do with a dog on a hot day?? Thank goodness for Tractor Supply Co and PetSmart in Epping NH! Gotta love those pet friendly stores!!! That's it, that was our date and man, was it a relaxing one! It was just the right amount of time and NO STRESS!

It's amazing how easy it is to forget to take time for yourself and your relationship. As a parent, I think it gets even harder to remember yourself at times. I would never change any of the moments that I have with my kids... but as a wife and a woman, I need to remember that time with just my husband is just as important as family time with all four (or five) of us!

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,
