I sit here watching my daughter stop riding her bike to help her younger brother get his bike moving.
I don't understand how some people are so upset with life and mean towards others. Really, how hard is it to smile at a stranger or hold a door. People are always in such a rush... A rush for what? To hurry up and wait? Adults need to take some life lessons from children! Smile and wave hello to a stranger, it might just make their day. People don't do that anymore. Why? Most people keep their head down and "mind their own business". A lot of people might say it is because there are too many predators out there. Which is true, recently on the news there was a story about a man that stalked and photographed a seven year old girl at a local supermarket. I actually saw the mother speaking to the manager after the incident. It's scary to know things like that happen. But what if more people said "Good Morning!", what would happen if your presence was known? Maybe if someone had said hello to the man he would have thought twice about following the child. Maybe not... but why why not try to spread extra kindness and attention anyways?
I believe that if more people would show random kindness and happiness towards others, there would be less of those that are miserable and inappropriate (for lack of a better term at the moment). Kindness is contagious! Ever hear a person laughing and then find yourself smiling and maybe even giggling too? Same with smiles! Any attitude is contagious, so why not help make it a positive one!
Am I a crazy optimist? YOU BET! But someone needs to be! Don't be afraid to smile at someone. It might be the only nice thing that happens to them today! Make someone's day. Remember kindness is FREE!! And NICE MATTERS!!
